Posting my findings

Postby Guest » Fri Aug 27, 2004 7:41 am

Hi all!
I promised to post the findings from my experiment with the individual lash application. I found that in optimal conditions they really do last for 2-3 weeks. By optimal conditions, I mean that the client's natural lashes are not too sparse or short, the technician applies them securely, and the client does not use mascara too heavily and is cautious when removing her eye makeup.
Some of the ladies in my experiment lost the lashes within a couple days. I was puzzled at first as to why, but eventually found that in all 3 cases in which this happened, the client was more mature than most the other subjects, and therefore, unfortunately had sparse natural lashes, leaving the adhesive with very little natural hair upon which to adhere.
It is also important that you have a steady hand when applying the lashes, and you ensure they are properly secured in the first place. I assure you, if you do your part, the adhesive will certainly do its part!
Finally, as to the question of whether or not one may use mascara while wearing these lashes. I honestly wouldn't recommend it. If you must, do it lightly by touching the wand to the very tips of the lashes. I can't imagine any reason for needing mascara, especially if you choose the lashes in black and in long length. I am a fan of dramatic makeup, and the black, long lashes were more than sufficient in every case.
I hope this proves helpful for everyone. I did leave out a couple little tidbits that I discovered during my experiment. Be careful when using an eyelash curler. I had one young lady whose application came out really well and then she took a curler and by the time she was done the lashes were completely ruined. She clamped the curler incorrectly and then tried to correct her error. The results were fuzzy looking curly lashes. Not pretty. LOL
If anyone has any other questions about this feel free to ask and I will be happy to answer if I can, or tell you I don't know if I can't! haha

Always~

best eyelash adhesive?

Postby tay » Tue Mar 15, 2005 9:49 pm

Hi,

Just wanted to know what you think is the best eyelash adhesive for permanent attachment of false eyelashes? I heard Ardell Lashlite is quite good, but from another source, they swear by DUO (although i'm not quite sure this brand is even of a permanent nature!).

And, should the individual eyelashes be applied directly to each lash on the eye? As in, should the small bunches of eyelash hair (for eg. found in knot free perma-lash), be separated and applied each strand by strand to the natural eyelash hair?

Anxious to find out,
regards, Tay x

dear tay,

i find that ardell lashtite works okay, but some of the other posters here have written that they feel that the strength of this glue has weakened over the years and that the formula may have been changed. someone recommended the andrea permalash glue as a decent replacement. the DUO adhesive is NOT a permanent glue, it's best used for strip lashes and for "single day" eyelash wear (eg. you apply your lashes and take them off daily). Finally, you do NOT want to separate your knotted lashes and apply them individually. If you really want single "Strands" of eyelashes, send an email to questions@madamemadeline.com and ask about ordering the Duralash REGULAR Individual Eyelashes. These lashes are sold in sets of 10 for $2 each. They are similar to what you would have if your disassembled a knotted bunch of lashes, but they are a little thicker/more full. Please note that these lashes are waaaay more tedious to apply, but look very natural once applied. They give more of a pixie separated lash look ( think model Twiggy lashes).

Hope this info is useful to you!

Hi,

I'm just wondering if it's possible to apply these permanently by yourself? How do you stop them getting stuck to your lower lashes when you close your eyes during the application?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Hi,
I just applied flares to my top and bottom lashline using a magnifying mirror on a stand, that I had facing up to my chin- I could just look down into the mirror for placement . I did not close my eyes and it worked fine.

Thanks for the advise. Time to buy myself a magnifying mirror. Heading to my local CVS tomorrow ; )

Good morning,

I am just looking for advice on individual lashes -flares- I am practicing applying them by myself and look forward to getting a full look--most of the time I get a bushy look...how many boxed do you recommend per eye. 1 tech told me that she uses 1 to 1.5 per eye and it looks really nice...I use 1 box for both eye....I need some tips cause I need to achieve that professional look....
Thanks in advance for your replies :-)

To apply the eyelash clusters, first use tweezers, gently lift an Individual lash cluster from the tray and dip end into adhesive. Starting at the center of the eyelid, apply lashes one at a time by placing the lash cluster on top of one of your own natural lashes with the end close to, but not touching, your eyelid. Support lash gently with fingertips until adhesive sets. Work towards the outer corner. Return to center and gradually work inward until lashes blend. Apply 10-15 lash clusters per eye. Individual lashes should be replaced as your own natural lashes shed.

It is good to start with your dominate side. If you are right handed, start with your right eye. I found it easier to pull the lashes from the tray with my fingers rather than with tweezers because the concentrated pressure from tweezers caused a few kinks here and there. The clusters have a bit of rubbery glue on the ends from being stuck to the tray... so I also had to use my fingers to rub off as much of that as possible so as not to affect the sticking power of the proper glue. Use a slanted tweezers to do the lifting, dipping (in glue) and positioning of the lash cluster. I also used the blunt end of the tweezers to lightly press each cluster onto my natural lashes. I used five "short" lashes from the center of my eye, and then five "medium" lashes for the outer quarter of my eye.
